Kundapura: The Government High School in Beejadi organized its school student council election for the academic year 2026-27 replicating the democratic general election system by utilizing an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) application. The process meticulously followed systematic electoral stages including election notification, filing, scrutiny, and withdrawal of nominations, election campaigning, voting, and counting.

A special provision for the NOTA (None of the Above) option was also introduced. Serving as booth-level officers, students Bhumika, Sanvi, Shrisha, and Ankita distributed voter identity slips, while Sapthami, Tanmayi, Pratibha, and Sanvi operated as polling officers. Teachers Mrs. Geetha and Mrs. Likhitha managed the voting control units.

Voters were required to present either their school ID, Aadhaar card, or ration card at the polling booth, where their identities were verified and signatures recorded. Out of 143 students, 137 were present to cast their votes in a free and fair manner, and indelible ink was applied to their left forefinger. Following the polling, accounting logs and election materials were verified by the presiding officer. After the counting process, which took place in the presence of the candidates, certificates were issued to the winners. Kumar Manikanta of Class 10 was elected School Captain (School Leader), and Kumar Manvith M. of Class 9 was elected Vice-Captain.

During this practical demonstration of democratic processes, Headmistress Mrs. Vinoda M. served as the Election Commissioner, while teacher Mrs. Arpana Bai acted as the Returning Officer. Mrs. Supriya co-operated as the Micro Observer, Nataraja as the Sector Officer, Udaya Mogaveera and Mrs. Bhagyalakshmi as Security Chiefs, Mrs. Geetha and Mrs. Ramya as Counting Officers, and Mrs. Prema along with Mrs. Likhitha as Technical Assistants. The entire electoral process was organized and executed by the school’s Social Science teacher, Dr. Sadananda Byndoor.
