Kundapura, January 22, 2026: A young biker lost his life in a horrific head-on collision with an oncoming private bus while attempting to overtake another bus at the notorious Shetrakatte curve on Saturday morning, highlighting once again the dangers of rash overtaking on this accident-prone stretch.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay Devadiga (26), a resident of Saukoor. Vijay, who ran a fast-food outlet in Trasi, was riding his bike from Trasi towards Saukoor when the mishap occurred. In his attempt to overtake a private bus, he lost control and collided directly with another private bus coming from the opposite direction.

The impact was so severe that Vijay sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. The incident has deeply shocked the local community, especially since a similar major crash involving a tipper and a government bus took place in the same Shetrakatte area not long ago.

Upon receiving information, Kundapur Rural Police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case.
