KUNDAPURA: A massive fire broke out on Wednesday morning at the cashew plantation located on the Mullikatte-Nayakawadi State Highway in Gujjadi village. The blaze, which spread like a forest fire, has caused extensive damage to hundreds of cashew trees and other vegetation.
Heroic Act by Police Personnel: In a display of exemplary bravery, 112 Police Driver Suresh M risked his life to battle the spreading flames. Along with a local youth named Karunakar, Suresh fought the blaze to prevent it from reaching nearby areas. Their quick response has been widely appreciated by the local community.

Suspicious Timing Raises Concerns: The incident has triggered rumors among locals, as fires have reportedly been breaking out in this plantation every year immediately after the annual auction process is completed. While it is suspected that a discarded cigarette might have sparked the fire, the recurring pattern has led many to call for a thorough investigation into potential foul play.
Joint Operation to Control the Fire: The Kundapura Fire Brigade, along with officials from the Gangolli Police, Forest Department, and KCDC, rushed to the spot to control the situation. Gujjadi GP President Thammaiah Devadiga, Village Administrative Officer Somappa, and 24×7 Apatbhandava ambuslance Ibrahim Gangolli were present to assist in the operations. MESCOM officials also inspected the site to prevent any electrical hazards.
