Gujjadi Dodmane: New Roof of Shri Yaksha, Panjurli, Hayguli and Parivara Daivasthana Inaugurated

Gujjadi, January 26, 2026: The newly constructed roof (melchavani) of Shri Yaksha, Panjurli, Hayguli and Parivara Daivasthana in Gujjadi Dodmane was formally inaugurated on Tuesday amid religious fervour and community participation.

Speaking on the occasion, Narayan T. Poojari, Honorary President of Kundapur Billava Samaja Seva Sangha, said: “Religious programmes in the village unite hearts and minds. Through such observances, society can come together. This historic daivasthana, with over 700 years of tradition, has been nurtured by the Dodmane family and villagers, who have wholeheartedly supported its all-round development.”

Kundapur Billava Samaja Seva Sangha President Ashok Poojari Beejadi highlighted the deep faith of coastal people in daivas and deities. “Religious programmes bring mental peace and social unity. Kola Seva has its own strict traditions and has been performed even in royal times. In the past, families sought divine intervention for health, progeny, agriculture, epidemics, and drought through vows and services. That belief continues today. Though some changes have occurred in rituals, the core principles are faithfully upheld by daiva dancers and archakas – this is the pride of the Billava community.”

Donors and elders were honoured during the event. Winners of various athletic competitions were awarded prizes.

The programme was attended by Gujjadi Gram Panchayat President Thammayya Devadiga, Bengere Shri Naga Temple President Umesh Mesta, Daivasthana patri Suresh Poojari, archaka Ravi C. Poojari, and other prominent members of the community.

The inauguration was followed by traditional Kola Seva and other rituals, reinforcing the centuries-old cultural and spiritual significance of the shrine.
