Hassan, March 24, 2026: A tragic road accident occurred near Ammakuteera layout at Hirisave in Hassan district early Tuesday morning, claiming the life of a passenger from Kundapura. The deceased has been identified as Krishna Shetty, who reportedly died on the spot.

The accident took place at around 4:30 am on National Highway 75. A private bus belonging to Durgamba Travels was on its way from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. While attempting to overtake another vehicle, the bus rammed into the rear of a moving lorry. The impact caused significant damage to the bus and left more than eight passengers injured. One of the injured is said to be in critical condition.

All the injured passengers were immediately shifted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital and other nearby medical facilities for treatment. Sub-inspector Roopadevi stated that there were a total of 32 people on board the bus, including the driver and conductor. Local police have visited the scene and a case has been registered regarding the incident.
