Washington, March 17, 2026: Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) and a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, resigned from his position on Tuesday in protest against the ongoing war in Iran. In a resignation letter posted on X, Kent stated that he could not in good conscience support the conflict, claiming that Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States.

Kent alleged that the war was the result of a coordinated misinformation campaign by high-ranking Israeli officials and a powerful American lobby aimed at undermining the “America First” platform. “We started this war due to pressure from Israel… this was the same tactic used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war,” Kent wrote.
