KALABURAGI: A driver and conductor of the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) operated a passenger bus using a mobile phone flashlight after the vehicle’s headlights suffered a total failure mid-journey. The bus, carrying eight passengers, had departed from Kalaburagi at 7:30 PM bound for Chincholi and reached its destination late at night under these conditions.

The incident came to light after passengers filmed the drive and shared the video on social media platforms, where it quickly went viral and triggered widespread public outrage. Passengers alleged that the bus had been operated in the same hazardous condition for the past three days. Following the viral footage, local residents and activists strongly criticized the transport department for running dilapidated and poorly maintained buses along the route.
