KUNDAPURA: A tragic road accident occurred on National Highway 66 near Kinara Junction in Koteshwara on Thursday afternoon, where a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as Bharat Shetty (34), a resident of Koltha near Idloor-Kunjnadi Jannalu.

The Incident: The truck, which was transporting a consignment of plywood from Kerala towards Nashik, was traveling along the Udupi-Kundapura route. It collided heavily with the motorcycle ridden by Bharat, who was moving in the same direction. Due to the impact of the crash, Bharat was thrown onto the asphalt, sustaining fatal injuries, and passed away on the spot.

Drunk Driving Suspected: According to sources, Bharat was employed at a well-known paint showroom near Koteshwara and had gotten married just last year. Although he routinely commuted to work in his car, he had unfortunately chosen to ride his motorcycle on Thursday. Onlookers and locals alleged that the truck driver was heavily under the influence of alcohol, and his reckless, negligent driving snuffed out an innocent life.

Upon receiving the information, Kundapura Traffic Police Sub-Inspectors Anoop Nayak and Sudha Prabhu, along with their team, rushed to the site to inspect the scene
