Kundapura, April 19, 2026: The Udupi District Unit of the Dalit Rights Committee celebrated the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Tiles Workers’ Hall (Hanchu Karmikara Bhavana) in Kundapura on Sunday.

The event was inaugurated by Ramesh, Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department, Kundapura Taluk, who offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar. Sanjeeva Balkur, President of the Dalit Rights Committee, presided over the function.

Senior journalist and thinker Shrirama Divana Moodubelle delivered the keynote lecture, highlighting the enduring relevance of Ambedkar’s ideology in contemporary society.

Prominent leaders present at the event included CITU state leader Balakrishna Shetty, Rajeev Padukone, H. Narasimha, Vice President of the Dalit Rights Committee Nagaratna Nada, and Sheelavati of the Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane.

Ravi V.M., the District General Secretary of the Dalit Rights Committee, welcomed the gathering. Treasurer Nagaratna R. Nada compered the program and delivered the vote of thanks.
