Legendary playback singer S Janaki, affectionately known as the ‘Nightingale of South India’, passed away at 88 in Mysuru on Saturday. The Kannada film industry expressed deep grief over the loss of the veteran icon, who recorded over 48000 songs. CM D K Shivakumar has ordered a funeral with full state honours.
