The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill to increase Lok Sabha seats to 850 failed to get a 2/3rd majority in the House. Consequently, the Centre withdrew the Delimitation Bill 2026, following intense opposition from Southern states over fears of losing parliamentary representation.
