Udupi, February 27, 2026: Several socio-political organizations in Udupi have strongly condemned the brutal assault on a fish auction worker named Ayub at the Malpe fishing port. The accused, identified as Mithun Karkera, reportedly attacked Ayub over a trivial matter, leading to widespread outrage among various groups.

SIO: “SIO student organization strongly condemns the assault on the fish auction worker at Malpe fishing port. It is the responsibility of the administration to ensure the security and dignity of workers. An impartial and transparent investigation must be conducted, and strict legal action should be taken against the culprits. Adequate police security must be provided within the port to protect workers, and strict measures must be implemented to prevent the recurrence of such violence,” demanded SIO Udupi District.

SDPI Udupi: “The Social Democratic Party of India, Udupi Constituency Committee, strongly condemns the fatal assault on Ayub, a fish auction worker at Malpe fishing port, by Mithun Karkera over a trivial reason,” the committee stated.

DSS (Ambedkar Vada): Shyam Raj Birthi, Mysore Divisional Organizing Convener, issued a statement saying, “A case must be registered and the accused who assaulted the worker at Malpe port must be arrested immediately without succumbing to any political pressure.”
