MANGALURU: The Mangaluru city police have announced a cash reward for anyone providing credible information leading to the arrest of the absconding accused involved in the highway robbery of a gold trader. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have released the photographs of 13 suspects and sought public assistance.

The robbery took place near Baikampady in the early hours of June 29. The victim, Vikas, a gold trader from Maharashtra, was traveling in a car when an organized gang intercepted his vehicle and robbed him of 180 grams of gold and valuables worth Rs 23 lakh. According to investigators, Shibin Gangadharan, a native of Puducherry, is the alleged mastermind behind the crime.

The police have identified and released the photographs of the 13 key accused: Sreerag, Atul, Mithun Lal, Azeer Tharayil, Vaishakh, Aseer Payyanur, Pranav, Vigil, Ubaid (Kodagu), Firoz, Moydu Abbas, Ziyad, and Zameer Alika. Posters feature these suspects are being circulated across public spaces in Karnataka and Kerala. The police assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
