Mangaluru, February 27, 2026: In a significant breakthrough, the Mangaluru Cyber Crime Police have dismantled an inter-state syndicate involved in multi-crore cyber fraud by operating through rented bank accounts. Following coordinated raids in Hyderabad and Mangaluru, the police arrested six individuals, including five from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Sheikh Karimumulla (27) and Budidinne Vamshi (21) from Andhra Pradesh, Panditi Kranti Kumar (36), Bade Srinivas (38), and Utsala Santhosh Krishna (35) from Telangana, and Ibrahim (35) from Mulki, Mangaluru. During the operation, police seized 18 mobile phones, 18 debit cards, and a laptop. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang conducted transactions exceeding ₹2 crore in a single day on February 26, 2026.

The syndicate lured innocent citizens through social media, offering 4% to 6% commission in exchange for their bank account details and OTPs, which were then shared with cyber criminals abroad. The police found details of 72 bank accounts linked to the gang, against which 272 cybercrime complaints have already been registered across India. Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy has cautioned the public against sharing ATM cards, SIM cards, or bank details for commission, emphasizing that such acts are punishable offenses.
