Mundgod, February 3, 2026: PSI Yallalinga Kunnur (33), a dedicated and people-friendly officer at Mundgod Police Station, passed away due to severe illness on Tuesday, leaving the Karnataka Police Department and the public in deep shock and grief.
Yallalinga had been battling serious health issues for the past few days. He initially received treatment locally, but when his condition did not improve, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for advanced care. Despite continuous medical efforts, he breathed his last.
Known for his discipline, efficiency, and approachable nature, Yallalinga had earned the reputation of a “people-friendly officer” during his service. He was currently posted at Mundgod Police Station for the second time and had previously served at Yallapur and Banavasi stations.
He is survived by his wife and a young daughter. The sudden demise of the young officer, who was seen as the pillar of his family and had bright prospects for higher ranks, has plunged his family into profound sorrow.
Senior officers, including the Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police, colleagues, and the public have expressed deep condolences, describing his loss as an irreparable blow to the police force.
