Karkala, April 28, 2026: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, 18-year-old Prerana Moolya, who was battling for life after a horrific road accident near Nitte Community Health Centre, passed away on Monday. The accident had already claimed the life of her father, Navinchandra, on the day of the incident, April 24.

The tragedy occurred when Prerana was returning home with her father on a motorcycle after appearing for the CET examination. A speeding car, driven by a student of Nitte Engineering College, rammed into their bike. The impact was so severe that both were thrown onto the road, sustaining critical injuries.

While Navinchandra succumbed to his injuries on the same day, Prerana was undergoing intensive treatment in the ICU at a hospital in Manipal. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, she breathed her last on Monday evening. Prerana was the only daughter of Navinchandra, and the double tragedy has left the family and the local community in a state of profound grief. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
