Kota, March 25, 2026: The Kota police have arrested two individuals for allegedly assaulting toll gate staff with an iron rod at the Sastan Toll Plaza in Udupi district. The arrested suspects have been identified as Vinayak and Venkatesh Prasad, residents of Ripponpet in Shivamogga. A third accomplice, Dhanush, who was driving the vehicle, managed to flee the scene with the car.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM on March 24. According to the complaint filed by Assistant Toll Plaza Manager Yogesh Kumar, a Honda Amaze car (KA-54-6555) was waiting behind a bus at the toll lane. Frustrated by a minor delay, Venkatesh Prasad got out of the car, kicked the toll barrier, and began hurling abuses at the staff.

As the situation escalated, Vinayak allegedly pulled an iron rod from the car and attempted to strike the employees. Fortunately, the staff managed to dodge the attack, preventing serious injuries. Seeing the intervention of senior staff, the driver, Dhanush, sped away leaving the other two behind. The Kota Police have registered a case (Cr. No. 47/2026) under sections 115(2), 352, 110, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway to nab the absconding driver.
