GANGOLLI: Patrick Vaz (63), a resident of Padukone Hadavu, who was critically injured in a horrific collision between two motorcycles on National Highway 66 near the Arama Temple facing Trasi Beach, has succumbed to his injuries. With his passing at a private hospital in Manipal, the total death toll from this tragic road mishap has risen to two.

The accident had previously claimed the life of 23-year-old Deepak Nagappa Naik, a resident of Satumane Sambhavi in Bhatkal, who died on the spot. Patrick Vaz and his daughter Plencita (24), who were traveling on the second motorcycle, sustained severe injuries during the crash.

Patrick Vaz, who suffered critical trauma to his head and legs, was rushed to the KMC Hospital in Manipal in an extremely critical condition. Despite receiving intensive medical care, he failed to respond to the treatment and breathed his last. His daughter, Plencita, who sustained leg injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at Adarsha Hospital in Kundapura.
