Udupi, April 23, 2026: To commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Ambedkar Vada), Udupi District, in collaboration with various progressive organizations, is organizing a grand “Deshabhimani Convention” on April 26 at the Christian High School Grounds, Udupi.

Addressing a press conference, District Chief Convener Manjunath Giliyaru announced that the convention will be inaugurated at 5:00 PM by popular Kannada film actor and director Duniya Vijay. Prof. K. Phaniraj, Convener of Sahabalve Udupi, will preside over the event. The keynote address will be delivered by Mavalli Shankar, the State General Convener of DSS, and a special souvenir will be released by progressive activist K.L. Ashok.

A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the ‘Bhima Sarathi’ award to noted social worker Dr. H.S. Shetty for his distinguished service to society. Organizers expect a massive gathering of around 10,000 people.
