UDUPI: In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, the Special Summary Revision (SIR-2026) of electoral rolls is progressing rapidly in Udupi district. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have successfully distributed 89.5% of the total targeted enumeration forms through door-to-door visits. Additionally, 58,500 filled forms have already been collected and digitized, confirmed Udupi Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Swaroopa T.K.

Out of the total 10,63,876 enumeration forms targeted for distribution up to July 9, a total of 9,51,491 forms have been delivered to voters. During the field verification, the BLOs identified 407 deceased voters and noted that 243 voters have permanently relocated to other regions. Furthermore, 80 voters have opted for self-enumeration through online channels.

Constituency-Wise Breakdown of Deceased and Shifted Voters:

The highest number of deceased voters was recorded in the Byndoor constituency with 140 entries. This was followed by Udupi with 129, Kaup with 63, Kundapura with 54, and Karkala with 22. In terms of relocated voters, Udupi recorded 100 shifted individuals, followed by Byndoor with 57, Kundapura with 54, and Karkala with just 2 cases. The Deputy Commissioner has already conducted comprehensive progress review meetings with sector officers and supervisors in the Kaup and Karkala assembly segments.

Rs 8,000 Honorarium Released for BLOs:

To incentivize the intensive field exercise, the Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, Bengaluru, has sanctioned a total honorarium fund of Rs 88,96,000 for Udupi district. Each of the 1,112 BLOs engaged in the door-to-door distribution and collection task will receive a sum of Rs 8,000.

The constituency-wise fund allocations released to the respective Tahsildars are as follows: Rs 19.68 lakh for 246 BLOs in Byndoor, Rs 17.76 lakh for 222 BLOs in Kundapura, Rs 18.08 lakh for 222 BLOs in Udupi, and Rs 16.72 lakh each for 209 BLOs in Kaup and Karkala segments.
