Udupi, June 26: In a targeted operation against illicit synthetic drugs, the Malpe police have arrested a 19-year-old youth for allegedly peddling banned MDMA (Ecstasy) crystals in the coastal town. Law enforcement officials have confiscated narcotics and other valuables estimated at ₹1,52,000 from the accused.

Acting on precise intelligence, a police team led by Udupi Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Belliyappa K.U. and Malpe Police Inspector Ramachandra Nayak conducted a raid at a public place in Malpe and apprehended the suspect, identified as Syed Mohammed Mehraj (19).

The accused, currently residing at Swarna Residency near Akashavani in Brahmavar, is originally a resident of Muslim Mohalla, J.M. Cross Road in Shiruru.
