Udupi, April 11, 2026: The election process for the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association (2026-2031) has been issued, but the process for the Udupi district unit has been abruptly halted citing technical reasons.

District President K. Dinakar Shetty Amparu has strongly condemned this move by the State Central Committee. While the process was set to begin on April 11, the committee’s refusal to approve the voter list has caused a stalemate.

Shetty alleged that the Central Committee withheld the voter list under the pretext that funds collected for a state-level convention in February were not remitted to the state body.

Furthermore, he claimed that the state association has failed to release the district’s share of membership fees for the past four years.

He accused the committee of using these excuses to prevent him from contesting central-level elections, effectively stalling the entire district’s democratic rights.

Shetty stated that his active involvement in resolving teachers’ issues across levels has made him a target. He regretted that certain local individuals are collaborating with the central committee to disrupt district unity.
