Udupi, June 30: Udupi district recorded its highest 24-hour rainfall of the current season with an average of 7.36 cm received in the period ending at 8:30 AM on Tuesday. Hebri taluk recorded the highest downpour in the district with 8.5 cm of rainfall. Following a brief period of deficient monsoon rains, the precipitation has gained significant momentum across the district over the last two days, continuing with intense spells on Tuesday afternoon.

According to official weather reports, the taluk-wise rainfall data is as follows: Udupi recorded 85.4 mm, Hebri 85.0 mm, Karkala 83.1 mm, Byndoor 69.9 mm, Kundapur 66.4 mm, Brahmavar 62.2 mm, and Kaup recorded 61.8 mm of rain.

Damage to Four Houses: Heavy winds and continuous downpours resulted in structural damages to four houses across the district due to tree collapses. Incidents of uprooted trees falling on electricity poles were also reported from several villages, leading to temporary power disruptions. The estimated damages include:

Brahmavar: In Kotatattu village, a tree fell onto a cattle shed belonging to Rama Bangera, causing an estimated loss of ₹50,000.
Kundapur: A house belonging to Manju in Karkunje village sustained damages worth ₹40,000 after a tree collapsed on it.
