Mangaluru, March 3, 2026: The Ullal police have registered a suo motu case against an individual for posting a provocative bomb threat on Instagram targeting a local mosque. The threat appeared as a comment on a page featuring the photograph of Suhas Shetty, a murdered Hindu activist. The account, identified as ‘Shankar11916’, posted: “Support maadi bro Ullal masjid hatra bomb blast maadtini” (Support me bro, I will carry out a bomb blast near the Ullal mosque).

The inflammatory post was noticed on Monday by Santosh Doddmani, a staff member of the Ullal police station assigned to social media monitoring duty. Following his complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections for inciting communal hatred and violence. Police Commissioner Sudheer Reddy assured that the perpetrator would be arrested shortly and emphasized that the department is closely monitoring digital platforms for such threats.

Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader has taken serious note of the incident and personally instructed the Police Commissioner to ensure swift and strict action. Khader remarked that Ullal remains a symbol of communal harmony and that any attempts to disturb the peace through such provocative social media posts must be dealt with an iron hand.
