Gangolli, March 2, 2026: In a heart-warming gesture of social service, Udupi-based Yakshagana Kalaranga handed over its 90th house, ‘Saraswati Krupa’, to Shravya Kharvi, a meritorious second PUC student, in Gangolli, Byndoor taluk. The house was constructed at a cost of approximately 7 lakh INR, donated by Vasantha Acharya of Kundapura in memory of his mother. Kundapura MLA Kiran Kumar Kodgi inaugurated the house on Sunday, March 1st.

Shravya, daughter of late Jagannatha and Rekha, had secured 97% marks in her SSLC exams despite severe financial hardships. The family was struck by tragedy last July when Shravya’s father passed away in a boat accident. Recognizing her plight and academic excellence, Yakshagana Kalaranga’s ‘Vidyaposhak’ wing took up the construction of the house.

During the ceremony, donor Vasantha Acharya expressed immense satisfaction in supporting a talented student and further pledged to fund Shravya’s entire higher education. MLA Kodgi lauded Yakshagana Kalaranga for its consistent efforts in social welfare beyond the realm of art. The event saw the presence of Yakshagana Kalaranga President M. Gangadhara Rao, Secretary Murali Kadekar, and other members of the organization.
