Byndoor, April 24, 2026: Raghu Shiruru, the Udupi District Organizing Convener of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (Bhima Garjane), has announced a unique protest in front of the Byndoor Prajasoudha on May 4, 2026, over the alleged negligence of revenue officials in clearing encroachments on Dalit reserved land.

According to Raghu Shiruru, land in Survey No. 63 of Shiruru village, reserved for Scheduled Tribes, has been largely encroached upon. Specifically, an individual allegedly erected an iron sheet fence around the vacant plot. Despite an order from the Byndoor Tehsildar on November 29, 2024, to clear the fence, officials reportedly submitted a false report claiming the encroachment was removed, whereas it remains intact on the ground.

Frustrated by the repeated lack of action and alleged falsification of government records by revenue inspectors, the activist has decided to launch a “sleep-in” protest. Starting at 11 AM on May 4, he will protest by lying down with a mat and pillow in the Prajasoudha premises to symbolize the “sleeping state” of the administration regarding Dalit issues.
