Byndoor, April 24, 2026: In a major crackdown on organized crime, the Byndoor police have arrested Alfaz (25), a prominent member of the notorious ‘Garuda Gang’ and a listed rowdy sheeter, under the Goonda Act.

Following a detailed report submitted by Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, the District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K. issued the detention order on April 24. Alfaz is a resident of Arehole Cross in Kirimanjeshwara village.

Criminal Profile: The accused has a long criminal record with 10 serious cases registered against him across various police stations, including Shirva, Gangolli, Byndoor, Udupi City, Kundapura, and Bhatkal City in Uttara Kannada district. His criminal history includes 2 counts of attempted murder, robbery, dacoity attempts, assault, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.

Out of the 10 cases, he has been acquitted in one, while eight cases are currently under trial in court and one is under investigation. To maintain public peace and order, the authorities have ordered his detention at the Shivamogga Central Prison.
