Chikkamagaluru, January 28, 2026: A former chairman of the Chikkamagaluru City Development Authority (CDA) and close aide of senior BJP leader C.T. Ravi was allegedly assaulted by a group of villagers after being caught with a widow at a private homestay near Mattavara village on the Chikkamagaluru–Kadur road.

The incident occurred when villagers learned that Anand was staying with a widow from Mattavara village at the homestay. A group of locals reportedly stormed the property, checked rooms, and upon finding Anand with the woman, attacked him. A video of the assault has gone viral on social media, showing the mob verbally abusing and physically assaulting him.

The woman is a widow with no husband. Anand and the woman were acquainted, and they had come to the homestay together. Upon learning of this, villagers from her area carried out the attack.

Chikkamagaluru Rural police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Both sides were counselled and sent back peacefully. No formal complaint has been lodged by either party so far, and therefore no case has been registered. However, the viral video has sparked widespread discussion online.
