New Delhi, June 27: The Government of India has officially released the names of six military personnel who were killed in the line of duty during “Operation Sindoor” last year. This is the first time since the military engagement that the identities of these personnel have been made public. Their names will be permanently inscribed on the Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice) at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7 last year as a retaliatory military response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which had claimed 26 lives. The counter-offensive targeted terrorist camps across the border, leading to a four-day conflict involving aerial engagements and heavy shelling before concluding on May 10. Five personnel from the Indian Army and one from the Indian Air Force lost their lives during this operation.

Nearly 14 months after the conflict, the names have been formally included in the National War Memorial’s Roll of Honour along with the list of all service members who died during operations in 2025.

The six personnel identified are:

Subedar Major Pawan Kumar – HQ 10 Infantry Brigade
Rifleman Sunil Kumar (Vir Chakra) – 4 J&K Light Infantry
Lance Naik
