Kaup, April 22, 2026: In a heart-wrenching road accident at Kaup, an 8-year-old girl lost her life just half a kilometer away from her home. The deceased, identified as Saathvi Shetty, was traveling on a scooter with her father, Nityananda Shetty, when the mishap occurred near the Sai Service Station on the National Highway.

A non-stop bus entering the highway from the service road rammed into the scooter from behind. Saathvi sustained critical injuries in the impact and was rushed to the hospital, but she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Her father, Nityananda Shetty, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The family, which had been residing in Dubai, was planning to relocate to their hometown permanently. Saathvi’s admission to a private school in Udupi had already been completed for the upcoming academic year. Ironically, Nityananda Shetty was scheduled to fly back to Dubai tomorrow. He had visited the Kaup market with his daughter and was returning home when the accident struck. The fact that the tragedy occurred so close to their Poovaniguttu residence has left the local community in deep shock. A case has been registered at the Kaup police station, and an investigation is underway.<
