UDUPI: The Hiriadka Police arrested 26 persons on Tuesday night during a raid on an illegal gambling den operating inside a room at the Swarna Green Valley Resort in Puttige, Perdoor village. The accused were caught playing the prohibited ‘Andar Bahar’ card game.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Satisha (49) of Uliyaragoli, Akshaya (31) of Moodabidri, Lohith, Dinesh of Kapu, Madhava Poojary of Belapu, Prashanth, Akshaya, Dinesh, Bharath, Aruna, Roshan, Yadav, Ranjith, Manish, Pruthvin, Shiva, Deepak, Krishna, Vithesh, Charan of Kapu, Santhosh of Kanajar, Shiva of Uchila, Abdul Hameed and Haron of Shirva, and Ashoka and Shailesh of Udupi.

The police seized ₹1,31,630 in cash, 25 mobile phones, five cars, and three motorcycles from the spot, with the total seized property valued at ₹16.50 lakhs. Following the illegal activity, the police department stated that official measures would be initiated to cancel the operating license of the Swarna Green Valley Resort.

The operation was conducted under the directions of Udupi DySP Belliyeppa K and In-charge DySP Vijayaprasad, guided by Brahmavar Police Circle Inspector Gopeekrishna.
