Doha, June 27: The Indian Embassy in Doha on Saturday confirmed that the mortal remains of the remaining eight Indian nationals who tragically lost their lives in a major industrial accident at the Ras Laffan Industrial City have been successfully repatriated to India on June 26. Earlier on June 25, the bodies of four out of the total 12 victims had been sent back in the first phase of repatriation.

In an official post on social media platform X, the Indian Mission stated, “The mortal remains of 8 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in the Ras Laffan accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. Four out of 12 mortal remains had been repatriated earlier on June 25. The Embassy of India, Doha, extends its profound thanks to the Qatari authorities, Indian community organizations, and government agencies in India for their prompt support and coordination during this difficult hour.”

Furthermore, the Indian Ambassador alongside senior embassy officials visited Al Khor to personally meet some of the injured Indian nationals currently undergoing treatment. The embassy noted that all injured workers are receiving appropriate and high-quality medical attention, expressing gratitude to the Qatari healthcare authorities and representatives of the employer company for their swift emergency response. The embassy confirmed that all aggrieved families have been kept informed about the process.

Highlighting the close bilateral ties between New Delhi and Doha, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal detailed the high-level diplomatic outreach following the tragedy. Jaiswal confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a personal telephone call from the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. During the call, the Emir expressed deep grief and extended his heartfelt condolences over the loss of 12 Indian lives in the devastating accident that occurred at the industrial enclave last Sunday night.
