Sirsi, April 09, 2026: Archana Hegde, a native of Sonda in Sirsi taluk, has been honored with a Doctorate degree in the Department of Language and Literature by the Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bangalore.

The degree was presented during the University’s 12th and 13th Convocation ceremony held at the Jnana Jyothi Auditorium in Bangalore. Honorable Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, conferred the degree upon Archana Hegde and congratulated her on the achievement.

Dr. Archana Hegde conducted her research on the topic “Contribution of Kashmiri Poets to Sanskrit Literature and a Historical Study.” Her thesis provides a deep insight into the literary heritage of Kashmir and its influence on Sanskrit.

Personal Background: She is the daughter of Ganga and Gajanan Hegde from Kalagadde in Sonda village. Currently, she serves as a part-time lecturer at Deeksha College, Jain College, and NMKRV B.Ed College in Bangalore. Along with her academic pursuits, she is also a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer.
