Sirsi, April 20, 2026: The Sirsi Market Police have cracked the brutal murder case of Ayurvedic doctor Dr. Ramesh Kalgutkar (51) in the KHB Colony. Investigations revealed that the doctor, who was scheduled to get married today (Monday), was murdered by his close associate out of greed for gold jewelry.

The police have arrested Manjunath Panduranga Naik (70), a native of Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district. Stolen items including gold ornaments worth ₹15 lakh and ₹50,000 in cash have been recovered from him.

Background of the Incident: Manjunath was a client of Dr. Ramesh and had visited him several times for treatment, eventually becoming a trusted friend. Since the doctor’s wedding was fixed for Monday, he had withdrawn his gold jewelry from the bank on Saturday. Trusting Manjunath, the doctor had shown him the ornaments at his residence.

Tempted by the valuables, Manjunath allegedly attacked the sleeping doctor with a heavy weapon on Saturday night, killing him instantly. He then fled the scene after locking the house from outside. Within 24 hours of the discovery of the crime, the police tracked down and arrested the accused.
