SIRSI: The Sirsi Town Police have arrested four youth for allegedly assaulting on-duty police personnel, obstructing government officials from discharging their duties, and damaging a police patrol vehicle near the central bus stand here during the late hours of July 5.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Faizan Abdul Samad Mulla (22) of Ramanabail, Tanveer Asif Sheikh (22) of Havaldargalli on Hubli Road, Tohid Shabbir Savanur (22) of Rajeev Nagar, and Rihan Abdul Samad Mulla (27) of Ramanabail.

According to the police source, the incident occurred at around 1:00 AM when Night Patrol ASI Suresh Gonjali and Home Guard Naveen Shastri rushed to the central bus stand terminal following alerts regarding a public brawl. When the security personnel intervened and ordered the group to stop the commotion and disperse, the rowdy group turned violent. The accused abused the officials in foul language, pushed them away, and physically assaulted them to evade containment.
