Sirsi, April 20, 2026: In a heartening display of honesty, the staff of the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) Sirsi depot returned a valuable gold bar to a passenger who had accidentally left it behind in a city bus.

The passenger, Nagaveni Gowda, a teacher, had purchased a 5-gram gold bar worth ₹82,000 from Kamadhenu Jewellers on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. While traveling in the Sirsi KHB city bus, she inadvertently left the bag containing the gold on her seat before deboarding.

During the return journey, conductor Ramesh Naik and driver Venkataramana Naik noticed the unattended bag. Upon inspecting it and finding the gold bar inside, they safely secured the bag and brought it to the depot.

Following due verification of documents, the gold was returned to the rightful owner in the presence of Traffic Superintendent Mahesh Jogalekar and Inspector Raghupathi Naik. Expressing her gratitude, Nagaveni Gowda lauded the staff for their integrity. The public has widely appreciated the exemplary conduct of the transport staff, which has further boosted trust in the KSRTC.
