Sirasi, June 29: The Sirsi Rural Police have successfully solved the murder case of a man whose body was found in a forest area near Shinganamane village under Itaguli Gram Panchayat in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district within 24 hours of the crime. The victim’s wife, Arpita, and her alleged lover, Parameshwara Thimma Naik (27), have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

The deceased has been identified as Parameshwara Babu Naik (aged between 32 and 35 years according to different records), a resident of Mukrigudde in Shinganamane village (also referred to as Idtalli village). The victim and the accused, Parameshwara Thimma Naik, were maternal cousins who grew up under the same roof and were regarded as brothers by their family.

According to the police investigation, the victim’s wife, Arpita, was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with Parameshwara Thimma Naik for the past one to two years. Although the victim eventually discovered the affair, he initially chose to remain silent for the sake of his children and family. However, the discovery led to frequent disputes between the couple and the co-accused. Fearing that the husband would become an obstacle to their relationship, the duo allegedly conspired to eliminate him.

On the evening of June 25, the accused allegedly called the victim over the phone and asked him to accompany him outside for a conversation. Upon reaching a nearby forested area, the accused attacked Parameshwara Babu Naik with a sharp weapon, causing fatal injuries, and fled the scene. Family members later discovered the body lying in a pool of blood.

Following the incident, Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N., along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Geeta Patil and other senior officers, visited the crime scene. A special investigation team was constituted to probe the murder. Utilizing a dog squad and digital analysis of mobile phone data, the police detained the suspects. During interrogation, Arpita and her accomplice confessed to the crime. The swift resolution of this high-profile case within 24 hours has drawn appreciation from the public.
