Udupi, June 28: For the first time, a special inter-faith awareness and orientation program was organized for SSLC, PUC, and degree-level Bharat Scouts and Guides students who arrived in Udupi from 19 districts of the state for a three-day physical training and study tour.

As the first part of this initiative, an educational workshop on Islam was conducted yesterday at the Vijaya Makkala Koota English Medium School in Atradi, Vandse village, Kundapura taluk. During this session, students were provided comprehensive information on various topics, including the holy book Quran, the core tenets of Islam, religious practices, the sanctity of a mosque, and congregational prayers (Namaz). The Scouts and Guides students participated enthusiastically, raising questions to better understand the faith. Mushtaq Hennabail attended as the resource person and conducted the workshop, earning appreciation from the faculty members.

Following the workshop, a visit to the Mavinakatte Juma Masjid was arranged today for 180 Scouts and Guides students. Resource person Zameer Ahmed Rashadi addressed the students at the venue, explaining the history of the mosque, religious rituals, and various facets of Islam. Following the event, UJMO Kundapura Taluk President Dastageer Saheb, Mushtaq Hennabail, Muneer Kandloor, Munaf Kandloor, and all office-bearers were congratulated for their cooperation. Local leader Cheriyabba Saheb, along with the President of the Mavinakatte Juma Masjid, thanked everyone involved.

Udupi District Muslim Federation President Mohammed Moula expressed special gratitude to Bharat Scouts and Guides State Chief Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia and District Chief Commissioner Jayakar Shetty Indrali for permitting the program. He noted that at a time when certain elements attempt to sow communal discord and hatred among students for political or personal gains, programs promoting inter-faith harmony and mutual respect send a positive message to society. He added that such initiatives play a significant role in fostering tolerance, humanity, mutual respect, and national integration among students.
