Manipal, June 29: Based on the forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), an ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for Udupi district for the next one week, spanning from June 30, 2026, to July 6, 2026. Deputy Commissioner and District Disaster Management Authority Chairperson, Swaroopa T.K., announced via an official press release that the district is likely to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by high-velocity winds. Consequently, safety directives have been issued for both the public and administrative officials.

Key Safety Measures for the Public:

Citizens, children, and labourers are advised to stay indoors during heavy rains and lightning and take shelter in sturdy buildings. Farmers are requested to suspend outdoor agricultural activities during severe weather conditions.
Tourists, fishermen, and residents must strictly avoid venturing into rivers, water bodies, or the sea.
The public must stay away from hazardous trees, electric poles, and damaged or weak structures. People should keep a safe distance from snapped power lines. Vulnerable tree branches hanging over buildings should be trimmed beforehand.
As continuous heavy rainfall heightens the risk of landslides in certain areas, residents living in landslide-prone zones are advised to contact the local Tehsildar office or Gram Panchayat staff to shift to nearby relief centres in advance.
District and taluk-level officials, designated nodal officers, and members of local disaster management committees must remain mandatory at their designated headquarters to manage emergency situations.
