Udupi, March 18, 2026: In a heartening gesture of interfaith harmony, the Parish Priest of Mount Rosary Church, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, along with a delegation of church leaders, participated in the evening prayers and Iftar at the Nejar Juma Masjid on Wednesday.

The gathering, held as the holy month of Ramadan approaches its conclusion, served as a touching symbol of solidarity. The Christian delegation, including Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Rohan Mascarenhas, Sr. Elveena of Goretti Convent, and Sr. Roshni DMello, was warmly welcomed by the Mosque’s Ulema Usman Madani, President Kashim Saheb, and other community leaders. In his address, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza observed that this occasion held deep spiritual significance as it coincided with the Christian season of Lent, which began on February 18, and the upcoming Hindu festival of Ugadi on March 19.

Prominent members of the Parish Pastoral Council, including Vice President Baptist Dias, Secretary Priya Furtado, and Catholic Sabha President Archibald Furtado, were present.
