Udupi, June 28: Under its ‘Vidyaposhak’ initiative, Udupi Yakshagana Kalaranga organized a special event titled ‘Sooru Noorara Sadagara’ at the IYC Hall of Udupi Kalaranga on Sunday to mark the milestone handover of its 100th house constructed for underprivileged artists and students through donors.

Inaugurating the program, Sri Vishwavallabhateertha Swamiji of Udupi Sode Vadiraja Mutt stated that Yakshagana has been instrumental in preserving religious and cultural awareness. He appreciated Yakshagana Kalaranga for combining artistic promotion with meaningful social service and fostering a spirit of service among students.

Presiding over the function, MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H.S. Ballal emphasized that providing proper housing for underprivileged students enables them to study with better facilities and excel. He announced that MAHE will construct 50 houses over the next five years, at the rate of 10 houses per year, for needy students.

M. Raghavendra Bhat, Managing Director and CEO of Karnataka Bank, released the ‘Sooru Noorara’ commemorative volume. Anand C. Kundar of Gitananda Foundation Kota extended his felicitations. MLAs Yashpal Suvarna, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kiran Kodgi, and Gururaj Gantihole were present on the occasion. Sponsors of the hundred houses, construction workers, and assistants were felicitated during the event, and grafted mango saplings were distributed to the beneficiaries. The President of the organization, M. Gangadhara Rao, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks. Secretary Murali Kadekar compered the program, and Joint Secretary Narayana M. Hegde proposed the vote of thanks.

100th House Handover in Kulmunda: The handover ceremony for the 100th house, built for a second PUC student named Sinchana in Kulmunda of Shivapura village in Hebri taluk, took place on Sunday. Notably, this house was constructed at a cost of 7 lakh INR, funded collectively by the families of the 100 previous beneficiaries of the Vidyaposhak housing scheme. Dr. Udaya Kumar Saralatthaya, Diwan of the Paryaya Shiroor Mutt, inaugurated the house in the presence of several dignitaries.
