LONDON: Indian cricketers Yastika Bhatia and Kranti Gaud have carved their names into cricket history by becoming the first-ever women to feature on the iconic Lord’s Honours Board. This monumental milestone was achieved during the ongoing one-off Test match against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, globally revered as the “Home of Cricket.” The historic match also marks exactly 50 years since England’s pioneering women’s international match was played at this venue.

The Lord’s Honours Board, situated inside the prestigious Pavilion, immortalizes cricketers who score a century, claim five wickets in an innings, or take ten wickets in a match—a distinction previously held only by male legends, including Indians like Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Jasprit Bumrah. Joining them on the bowling board is England’s Sophie Ecclestone, who also took a five-wicket haul.

Representing UP Warriorz in the WPL and hailing from Bundelkhand, 22-year-old Indian pacer Kranti Gaud dismantled the English batting lineup with an exceptional spell of 5/37 in the first innings, bowling the hosts out for 170. She is now the youngest Indian female pacer to claim a Test fifer. Following her, 25-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, who represents Mumbai Indians in the WPL, displayed incredible resilience while recovering from a knee injury to smash 113 runs off 158 balls, registering her maiden Test century and the first-ever women’s Test ton at Lord’s. Driven by their performances, India declared their second innings at 341/7, setting a massive target of 457. By the end of Day 3, England was reeling at 130/6, facing a daunting defeat. Veteran cricketer Ravi Shastri took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the duo, calling them “beauties” and stating that this achievement will inspire every aspiring Indian woman cricketer.
